Wajir Woman Representative Fatuma Gedi now claims that some male legislators have been compromised not to support the Two-Thirds Gender Rule.
Gedi argues that some male MPs are afraid of women leadership
She argues that male legislators are seeing women leaders as a threat if the rule is passed.
The MP further argues that male chauvinism is another reason as to why men are against gender rule.
“These men will not help us pass the Gender Bill because they fear our rising influence as women leaders,” Gedi told journalists in Wajir Town on Saturday.
Gedi asked women to continue pushing for the bill to be passed.
She asked President Uhuru Kenyatta to intervene and ensure the bill is passed and implemented.
On Wednesday last week, the bill flopped for the fourth time after majority legislators snubbed the House sitting.
There were only 174 legislators the House when the Bill was tabled by Garissa Township MP Aden Duale.
A section of women leaders has now threatened to oppose referendum push until Parliament passes the gender rule.
