In a meeting at the Karisa Maitha Ground that was presided over by Kingi and attended by eight MPs and a host of MCAs, the former Magarini MP was given a boost in his ambitious journey to State House after politicians present slammed Joho for allegedly failing to unite the region.

However, in a quick re-joinder, Joho's Communications Director Richard Chacha dismissed the move saying that the Mombasa County boss is more interested in national matters than 'mere regional spokesperson'.

"Joho is not looking for space to be a regional spokesperson. He wants to be the President of this country in 2022. As such, he should not be equated with leaders who want to be regional kingpins," said Chacha.

Since the March 9, handshake between ODM leader Raila Odinga, Joho and Kingi have been pulling in different directions.

However, Chacha dismissed claims that the duo are in a competition.
