A pupil from St Mark Nyabera primary school in Nyalenda A Ward, Kisumu East Sub-county was on Wednesday busted in her boyfriend’s house after missing for two days.
Nyalenda A location chief Otieno Kabisai who confirmed the incident said one village elder busted the 15-year-old Kenya Certificate of Primary Examination (KCPE) candidate at a man's house.
Kabisai noted that the young lady was found in her boyfriend’s house who is a student at Kisumu National Polytechnic.
“Today we got a report that there is a pupil studying at St Mark Nyabera primary school who has not sat for her exams for two days, when we tried to follow up we busted the pupil in her boyfriend’s house, who she revealed that is a student at Kisumu Polytechnic,” he said.
According to her mother, the candidate went missing last week after she was sent home by her head teacher to fetch money for the lunch program.
“My daughter was sent back from school to come fetch money for lunch program and others, but when she came I had no money since I had paid what I had to one who’s in form two, so I asked her to go back but she went missing leaving her books in school,” she said.
She revealed that upon thorough searching, she was directed to a house belonging to a student from Kisumu Polytechnic where she was busted hiding.
“So when I was told to go check in that house belonging to Kisumu Polytechnic students, I did so and got her inside. My daughter has missed exams and I wanted her to sit for this year’s KCPE, am pleading with the government for help,” she added.
The 15-year-old candidate in her defense revealed that she went to see her friend before it started raining heavily, adding that she met some guys on the way who asked her to take shelter in their house, what she willingly agreed to do, not knowing she was to sit for her KCPE exams.
