A top lawyer based in Nairobi has dragged opposition leader Raila Odinga's name to the fiasco that has been unfolding in Zimbabwe where members of the opposition Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) have rejected the outcome of the presidential poll.
According to Ahmednasir Abdullahi, the violence is reminiscent to what has been unfolding in Kenya during elections where the former prime minister never accepts the results of the election unless he is the winner.
Members of MDC in Zimbabwe have been rioting following claims by their leader Nelson Chamisa that the presidential election was rigged in favour of ZANU-PF candidate and current president Emmerson Mnangagwa.
"The Raila Odinga doctrine of 'Elections are free and fair only if I win' is tragically in play in Zimbabwe. That doctrine is fascism. Period," Ahmednasir said.
"Let us all pray for our brothers in Zimbabwe. Let us all pray and passionately petition our Zimbabwe brothers in MDC among others (the opposition parties) to stop the death, destruction and looting in Zimbabwe."
The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission in its final announcement of the presidential results declared Mnangagwa the winner of the poll which it said he had won with a narrow margin of 50.8 percent.
The poll was the first to be conducted after Robert Mugabe was ousted as head of State.
