At Gachuba on Friday, Matiang'i said only focused political leaders will be given first priority in service delivery as directed by President Uhuru Kenyatta.

"We shall not condone those loitering aimlessly. It's about working for people. If you cannot change your ways and become focused, nobody will take you serious.

"Time has come for us to desist from engaging in unnecessary political rhetoric and instead focus on delivering to our people. It's serious business and we must do it."

Earlier, Gusii leaders led by Senator Sam Ongeri lauded president Uhuru Kenyatta's decision to elevate Dr Matiang'i as Development Cabinet Sub Committee chairman which will oversee all National Government projects.

In his candid speech, Prof. Ongeri also asked Matiang'i to obey elders and often seek advise in his new roles as the most powerful minister.

"When you go to Nairobi, remind the president that we are thankful. This is the best way to appreciate the community. As your elders, always learn to consult from us all the time."

Also present were Senator Okong'o Mogeni, Governor John Nyagarama, MPs Shadrack Mose, Vincent Kemosi, Alfa Miruka and Speaker Moffat Teya.

The entire leadership had gone to mourn with Nyamira Women Representative Jerusha Momanyi who had lost her father Andrew Nyachwaya.
