More leaders have broken silence over claims that a youngest serving minister from Gusii region was suspended on Friday by his bosses.
The leaders, led by ANC politician Thomas Nyangaresi on Friday evening, speaking in Kisii town, said the suspension of Kisii Sports minister Duke Mainga will bring a bad image.
"It is bad if Governor James Ongwae will suspend Mainga who has been tirelessly working. It is because of Mainga Gusii stadium got a new face. No one will allow him to be suspended," he said.
Rachael Otundo a Kisii based politician and activist said the claims will be treated as a rumor until Mainga is kicked of office.
"For now we can't trust the information until we see Mainga out of office. Ongwae will then be tasked to explain why should he suspend a young hardworking individual," she stated.
Ex-Bonchari MP Protus Momanyi said if it is true Ongwae has suspended the minister he should reinstate him immediately.
"Electorates will lose trust in Ongwae if he suspends the young minister. The minister should be reinstated if it is true he was suspended," said Momanyi.
But on his Facebook page, Mainga dismissed the reports as rumours, adding that he's still in office. There were claims that he had a scuffle with County Secretary Patrick Lumumba before his alleged suspension.
