Gatundu South Member of Parliament Moses Kuria has hit out at the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party Embakasi South by election candidate Irshad Sumra for allegedly breaching election rules by using another party's logo.
In a Facebook post on Sunday evening, Kuria noted that it is illegal for the candidate to use another party's symbols in the campaigns.
"I would like to express my indignation and angst at the very unlawful and illegal action by the ODM candidate for Embakasi South by election Irshad Sumra whereby he is using the Jubilee logo alongside the ODM logo in his campaign merchandise," he posted.
He claimed that the actions by the candidate is contrary to the Election Offenses Act.
"This is also contrary to the Elections Act and constitutes an election offense," Kuria opined.
In the post, Kuria acknowledged that he supports the handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga which has since brought national unity, peaceful coexistence and tranquility.
"I support the handshake in as much as it is for bringing our people together but nowhere did we as Jubilee members agree that we are in a political alliance with the ODM party," he added
