The latter was speaking in an interview on KTN, Sunday night, hours after leaving his slot at the President Uhuru Kenyatta-led side.

He said that he remains a member of Jubilee despite his resignation, but is free to join another one in the future.

"We will not leave the party but we are free people, and if a formation comes up that we like, we will move," he was quoted by the Nation on Monday.

In his resignation, Murathe who has vowed to stop Deputy President William Ruto's 2022 presidential bid said that he finds it hard working with Ruto and team.

"I find that it is no longer tenable to stay on as the party vice chairman, given that I will have to sit in the same National Executive Council with a man I am taking to court to block from running for president," he said.

He spoke during a press conference at his Garden Estate home in Nairobi county.

His anti-Ruto moves have earned him a large number of enemies from within the party, some from his own Mt Kenya region.

Neither Ruto nor President Uhuru Kenyatta has responded to his calls for Ruto to retire alongside Uhuru in 2022.
