School going children are the target customers by drug barons selling bhang, police officers have claimed.
Kisii South assistant police commander Evans Omuga while confirming the arrest of five suspects who were arrested with bhang worth Sh40,000 on Monday said students are the target customers.
"It is very unfortunate that drug barons have been selling bhang to children who are going to school. We are not going to condone members of the public engaging in illegal businesses," said Omuga.
The police boss assured that a crackdown will continue to flush out individuals selling bhang to students.
"No individual is above the law to continue doing outlawed business. The suspects in police custody will name other individuals they have been colluding with to carry out the illegal businesses," he stated.
He appealed to residents to be on high alert and report those engaging in illegal businesses.
"Residents should continue giving information to police on those selling bhang for arrests to be made without delay," he added.
Omuga challenged police officers not to spare anyone selling, distributing or storing bhang and illicit liquor.
