Mandago is serving his second and last term as the county boss and constitutionally, he will not be eligible to seek reelection in the 2022 general elections.

Speaking in Eldoret town on Sunday, the vocal Jubilee governor said he has already started to plan on venturing into the hotel industry as part of his retirement plan.

The plan, the governor says is inspired by the changing lifestyle and probability of having to stay home alone with his children staying abroad, busy minding their business.

“My retirement plan is to build a luxurious hotel since I might end up being left alone at home by my children or I might be taken to the house of the old which is not good for a person of my stature. I need to plan myself early before things get worse,” said Mandago.

The Jubilee governor first won an elective position in 2013 when he beat all odds to clinch the then United Republican Party ticket which guaranteed him a win in the general elections.

In the 2017 elections, he was reelected on a Jubilee ticket after withstanding a strong competition from billionaire businessman Zedekiah Bundotih Kiprop better known as Buzeki.
