Violent demonstrations have rocked Mount Kenya University, the main campus following the killing of a student within college precincts on Wednesday afternoon.
According to an update issued by Nomad TV the demos followed an incident where a second year Bachelor of Education art student was killed with three other colleagues sustaining serious injuries in an afternoon attack.
Reports indicate that the said students were attacked by unknown people outside campus premises near Bidco Africa Limited.
Even as this happened, roads leading to the institution have been temporarily closed with students engaging police officers in running battles.
At the time of going to press, the University management is yet to issue a statement on the unfortunate incident that is threatening to disrupt learning activities at the giant academic institution.
The protests were dismissed earlier on Wednesday afternoon, restoring calm at the institution.
