Baraza la Sanaa la Taifa (Basata), music regulatory board in Tanzania, banned Diamond and Rayvanny from organising and performing in any show within and outside Tanzania effective Wednesday, 19/12/2018 until further notice.

Tanzania entertainment news sites indicated that the ban by Baraza la Sanaa la Taifa (Basata) came about after the duo ignored the earlier ban on their song "Mwanza nyegezi' which was banned due to its vulgar lyrics.

The ban leaves the much awaited Wasafi Festival Show scheduled for Mombasa, and other parts of the country in dilemma.

Basata indicated that they will sue the singer should he ignore the indefinite ban and perform in Kenya.

"Sisi Basata we are the substitute of the government. Kama akiamua hivyo, hii kanuni ya Basata huwa inakuwa ni substitute ya sheria za nchi na akiikaidi lile suala linakuwa la kijinai. Likishakuwa la kijinai linakwendwa kwa Mwanasheria Mkuu wa serikali sisi tunawakabidhi mahakamani. Kwa hiyo mtu akikiuka kanuni zetu za Basata, amevuka na kwenda kwenye ishu ya kijinai  (We represent the government, if they decides to perform in Kenya then will have no otherwise but to charge him with treason, we will only need to forward him to the Chief Justice)," said Basata acting CEO Onesmo Kayanda.

Earlier on Wasafi manager Babu Tale had assured their fans that the show will proceed as scheduled.
