Jubilee chief campaigner and Nyamira gubernatorial aspirant Walter Nyambati was on Monday airlifted to United States of America for specialised treatment it has emerged.
His personal aide, Nicholas Kibeni on Saturday said the veteran politician was jetting out of the country for routine checkup even though he did not give further details.
"Mzee is jetting out of the country for checkup and hopefully he will return safely. There is nothing to worry and he will be back for Supreme Court ruling," he said.
Mr Nyambati, who was in frontline campaigning for President Uhuru Kenyatta, filed a petition in the Supreme Court challenging victory of Governor John Nyagarama.
Last week, the two parties attended the hearing in Nairobi with the five judges in the case promising to deliver ruling in few weeks time.
He said: "I am confident of victory. It has been a tough journey but the people of Nyamira will get justice soonest."
While details of his health remain scanty, Nyambati who left the country on Monday, has been struggling for fitness since his time in KDF.
