National Assembly Minority Leader John Mbadi's proposal to tame leaders giving millions of money to fundraisers may face resistance if at all Borabu MP Ben Momanyi's remarks is anything to go by.
Mr Mbadi has proposed that leaders giving more than Sh100,000 to social functions should be grilled by EACC to ascertain the source of their wealth.
Also, he states, those fond of giving such huge amount of money should be ready to file returns with EACC and other relevant investigative agencies.
But on Saturday at Kiabonyoru in Nyamira, Momanyi accused Mbadi of being childish and insincere, adding that MPs are capable of raising such amount of money.
"I saw the other day my friend Mbadi saying that those who contribute Sh100,000 should be able to account for it. This is ridiculous and laughable.
"MPs earn more than Sh1 million. What's the problem when someone decides to give a little to such welfares? Let him stop these childish behaviours."
While Deputy President William Ruto has been contributing millions to social events, ODM on the other hand has often questioned the source of the funds.
And Momanyi, who also doubles as Parliamentary Service Commission member, said he will continue hosting leaders who are ready to give to the community at his constituency.
