Kapseret member of Parliament Oscar Sudi was on Thursday grilled by the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) over alleged hateful utterances he recently made.
A Facebook post on the NCIC's official page indicated that the MP had been summoned over utterances he made on March 30, 2019, at Cheptiret, Uasin Gishu County.
"Kapseret MP, Oscar Sudi summoned by NCIC's investigation officers. He's appearing at Kilimani Sub County Criminal Investigations Officer's office @ 10 am, 11/04/2019," reads part of the NCIC's Facebook post.
The MP who is a fierce defender of Deputy President William Ruto confirmed that he indeed had been summoned by NCIC.
In a post of his Facebook page, Sudi said; "I am already here at National Cohesion and Integration Commission headquarters after I was summoned to appear before the commission. I guess I am being called upon to clarify my recent comments I made about a certain community."
It's not clear which utterances from the MP the NCIC was investigating but it is suspected to be a controversial statement he made against the Luo community.
He was quoted saying; "Luos are very stupid. They support someone just because they think they know a lot of English."
NCIC is mandated to tame hate speech and derogatory statements aimed at causing feud and divisions between communities or individuals.
