Retired President Daniel Moi on Sunday celebrated his 94th birthday.
Celebrations for Mzee Moi’s birthday were held at his Kabarak home, Nakuru County where family members and a few politicians attended.
Visiting the former president’s home has always been a 'big deal', politically, and probably this is why there has always been a talk of 2022 linked to any high profile visit to the leader who ruled the country for over 24 years.
Apart from Baringo Senator Gideon Moi, who is son the former head of state, here are the four politicians from the North Rift who were also present during the birthday celebrations;
William Kamket
He is the current Tiaty Member of Parliament serving his first term. Kamket won the seat during the August 2017 general elections on a KANU ticket. He is considered a key ally of Senator Moi, and his presence at Kabarak during such a celebration was more of obvious.
Silas Tiren
The Moiben MP has been a frequent visitor at Kabarak sparking suggestions that he might be in support of Senator Moi’s 2022 presidential bid. Tiren who was elected for a second term on a Jubilee ticket was the only government allied-MP who accompanied opposition Chief Raila Odinga when he visited Mzee Moi. He was also present recently when Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho visited the retired president.

William Chepkut
The Ainabkoi MP was elected on an independent ticket but has been loyal to the Jubilee party. Chepkut seems to enjoy a close relationship with Mzee Moi’s family. During a botched visit of Deputy President William Ruto to Kabarak in May, he managed to see the former head of state.
Alex Tolgos
He is the Elgeyo Marakwet governor serving his second term. Tolgos was reelected on a Jubilee party ticket. The youthful governor was also present during the Mzee Moi’s 94th birthday celebrations.
