Opposition leaders have taken a swipe at Deputy President William Ruto following ignition of politics of debt.
Last month, Ruto openly dismissed claims that Mt. Kenya region owes him political debt adding that he will chat his own path.
However, at Kakamega on Saturday, Ruto asked Raila Odinga and Musalia Mudavadi to pay debt following the support he gave the duo in 2007 elections.
But while attending various functions on Saturday in Gusii, Raila Odinga and his allies accused Ruto of double speak adding that 2022 politics was unnecessary.
"He keeps telling us that he is not campaigning. I wonder why he can't come out open and tell people he's competing," said self-proclaimed Gusii spokesman Simba Arati.
On his part, Raila, without directly mentioning Ruto's name, wondered why he wants to be backed by oppostion leaders.
"Today you tell us that nobody has owes you debt, tomorrow, you claim we have debt. What debt are your really talking about?" Paused Raila.
Similar sentiments were echoed by Kisii County Women Rep Janet Ong'era who accused Ruto's camp of early campaigns.
For the better part of Friday, Raila Odinga, even though he hasn't openly declared 2022 presidential bid, held closed-door meeting with Governor John Nyagarama at his Tente home.
A day later, Raila would also hold another meeting with Governor James Ongwae and other local leaders.
