Deputy President William Ruto has once again declared his full support for President Uhuru Kenyatta and his development agenda.
Speaking on Friday, the DP rubbished claims of there being some rebellion emerging from his quarters, confirming that he and his allies are fully behind the president.
He acknowledged Uhuru as the country's top leader, declaring his readiness to follow his orders, alongside his allies and all the people in his camp.
“You are the country’s leader. The people of Uasin Gishu do not have any other leader but you. We are behind you, front and back, left and right, top and bottom, valleys and mountains," said the DP, as quoted by the Nation.
Ruto spoke when he accompanied Uhuru for the relaunch of the Rift Valley Textile factory, otherwise known as Rivatex in Uasin Gishu County on Friday.
Ruto was among the few leaders who delved into politics, alongside Kapreset MP Oscar Sudi who was until recently a fierce critic of the president. Uhuru and most of the speakers steered off the issue.
Uhuru instead focused on government initiatives aimed at creating more job opportunities for the youth.
The tour of Eldoret, Ruto's backyard, becomes Uhuru's first since 2017 and comes amid tension between Uhuru's and Ruto's camps, as a result of a widening rift in the Jubilee Party.
