Most students at Maseno University have fallen victim of this scam and a few have come out to express their frustrations.

Fausteen Ondoro, a female Maseno University student from Kisumu, fell a victim of this scam in 2018.

A lady identified as Joyce promised to teach her on how to earn money using her phone.

She went all the way to the marketer’s office along Muindi Mbingu Street in Nairobi where she learned that she was being played.

“The lady said that I purchase two packages of medicinal drugs worth 5,000/ and sell on behalf of the company. Then I should look for other two friends who should do the same before I earn the 3,000/. I was not interested. The phone is only used to contacting those interested in buying your drugs,” Fausteen told  Hivisasa.

Fausteen felt like she had wasted her money and time to visit them because if you accept to purchase the package, then it’s beneficial to the one who invited you.

Companies such Chinese International Medical centre are conducting this trick which is based on network marketing where every marketer recruits two or more marketers to earn.
