Police in Nyamira are investigating incidents where two men were killed and their bodies dumped a kilometer apart in Kebirigo area in Bonyamatuta Ward.

Zachariah Onkundi’s, 72, body was discovered in a tea plantation, a kilometer from Kebirigo town where Kevin Siginya’s, 20, was dumped.

The body of Onkundi was discovered by his grandchild who was going to fetch water from the nearby stream.

Reports indicated that Onkundi disappeared Monday evening. Both bodies had deep cuts on the necks and heads. 

Neighbors of Onkundi hinted that the deceased has had a protracted land dispute and that had an ongoing case over land ownership in court.

Siginya, who is said to be a sand loader in Kebirigo  lived with his grandmother within the Kebirigo town.

The incidents were confirmed by Nyamira South Police commander Ms. Lilies Wachira. She urged the public to remain calm and give out any information that may help the police in apprehending the killers.

  “We are on the matter and I want our people to share any information that may lead to arrests of the assailants. We shall ensure the deceased receive justice,” she said.

The bodies of the deceased were taken to Kinara Hospital Mortuary in Nyamira awaiting postmortem and burial.
