Ford Kenya party leader Moses Wetangula is now blaming his Ford-Kenya party's inability to dominate his Bungoma backyard on opposition leader Raila Odinga.
The party was unable to stamp authority in the region in the August 8 election, seeing the invasion of Odinga's Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) and the ruling Jubilee parties which took away majority of the seats.
But speaking on Citizen Television on Tuesday evening, the Bungoma Senator noted that he was busy campaigning for Raila's presidential bid, hence Ford-Kenya's embarrassment in Bungoma and the entire Western region.
"I lost most of the seats to other parties because I spent most of my time campaigning for Raila and never had the time to even campaign for myself. Otherwise, my party would have swept through the entire region," he noted.
Wetangula who has since declared his Presidential ambition for the approaching 2022 general election noted that his party's poor performance does not translate to his weakness or inability to deliver a victory.
He took credit of Odinga's remarkable performance in Luhya-land in the previous poll, noting that his influence is to thank for the former Prime Minister's ability to beat President Uhuru Kenyatta.
"I delivered 90 percent of the Western vote to Raila. All the votes he got were courtesy of my efforts," he claimed.
