Renowned television analyst David Osiani has contended that the ruling Jubilee candidate in the Kibra parliamentary race McDonald Mariga might have integrity issues.
Speaking on NTV Monday in a panel discussion, Mr Osiani pointed at the forgery claims that the veteran footballer is grappling with.
The analyst appeared to cast aspersions on the integrity of Mariga as he expressed doubts over whether the footballer had submitted a certificate of good conduct to the IEBC.
"We also know that the issues that he faces have not been dealt with conclusively. Remember IEBC does not just require a person to be above 18 years of age but to also submit a certificate of good conduct. I am not sure if McDonald Mariga has submitted a certificate of good conduct as the issues he faces shows that he may fall short of the threshold of being issued with a certificate of good conduct."
(Vilevile tunajua kuna maneno yale tata ambayo bado hayaja shughulikiwa. Kumbuka IEBC haitaki mtu kuwa tu above 18... ila lazima uwasilishe cheti cha tabia nzuri, certificate of good conduct. Sijui kama McDonald Mariga atapeana certificate of good conduct manake maswala ambayo yanaulizwa kule ni maswala yanayoonyesha labda huenda akapungukiwa kupata cheti cha good conduct), " Mr Osiani said. Questions about the veteran footballer's age continue to consume the public discourse as a petitioner seeks to have the courts disqualify him for allegedly engaging in forgery.
They are questions that Mariga has not come out to squarely address with members of his campaign led by Bonny Khalwale only saying that he has attained the age of contesting a political seat.
