Okoth who died on Friday last week was cremated in a private function, amid confusion over the fate of his remains and a fight between his paternal and maternal families.

Speaking at the home of their mother Anjeline Ajwang in Homa Bay, Saturday, Okoth's elder brother Rashid Omondi said that they also expected to be allowed to view the body.

He added that Okoth's widow Monica should prepare for some tough questioning, demanding that she travels to Kasipul Kabondo to explain the reasons behind her actions.

"(Ms) Monica has a lot of questions to answer, let her come and explain everything to us," Omondi said as quoted by Daily Nation.

Okoth's widow, Monica, pushed for the cremation, in line with an alleged will.

The MP's brother, however, said that the family doesn't approve of the turn of events in line with the Luo customs which demand a burial, criticising family members who supported the cremation.

"I am still puzzled that some members of my family resolved to cremate my brother’s body," he noted.

Okoth succumbed to colorectal cancer which he has been battling since 2017.
