Weda says that some of the people surrounding Mudavadi will actually repel his bid for the presidency, one of them being former Sports Cabinet Secretary Rashid Echesa.

Echesa, a former ally of Deputy President William Ruto over the weekend made a U-turn, announcing that he will fully support Mudavadi's bid to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta.

However, according to Weda, Echesa and the likes will only complicate things for Mudavadi, terming him a hopeless noisemaker who does not control any support.

"Mudavadi has surrounded himself with noisemakers who are hopeless and of no use to him. People like Echesa are only making noise and won't be of any help," he said.

Weda who doubles up a High Court Advocate was speaking on KBC English Service's The Big Conversation show on Wednesday morning.

He said that the same applies to Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala, who has been seen to be close to ODM leader Raila Odinga, but who has as well endorsed Mudavadi's ambitions.

According to Weda, the senator should be expected to denounce Mudavadi in the event that Raila joins the race, making him an untrustworthy person.

"Malala would scamper for safety if Raila declared his bid. Mudavadi is a good man and mature to lead but they are only using him to appear united as Luhya politicians," he added.
