Deputy President William Ruto has singled out former Kitutu Masaba MP Timothy Bosire as the man behind his slow penetration in the populous Gusii region.
For the last one year, Ruto has made 20 trips jointly to Kisii and Nyamira Counties, further causing discomfort amongst ODM stalwarts from the region.
Through Gusii community Parliamentary Group spokesperson Joash Nyamoko, Ruto insists that despite Bosire's resistance, he will score most votes from the region in 2022 polls.
"I hear Bosire is going for gubernatorial seat. He should leave Ruto alone and concentrate on building his career. He should stop reckless attacks against the DP.
"I can assure him that despite his attacks, we are confident that the DP will get most votes from Gusii. Let him just concentrate in campaigning for his candidates," he said.
Throughout Ruto's trips to Gusii, Bosire has often questioned the merit, arguing that most of projects launched are old, remarks which haven't gone down well with Ruto's team.
In a quick rejoinder, Bosire has dismissed Nyamoko's assertions, adding that he has a right to criticise the deputy president of the Republic of Kenya.
"They are forgetting that Ruto is the deputy president of everybody. I'll continue questioning his integrity. If they have a problem with that, let them report to the police."
It's projected that Nyamira and Kisii Counties will have a population of 1.3 million voters by the year 2022, thus making it a region of interest.
