Deputy President William Ruto may be making a lot gains in Gusii region with Saturday's visit confirming his firm grip among the elected Members of Parliament.
The Saturday's trip was the 20th in one year, an indication that the country's second in command is keen to capture over 1.4 million votes from both Kisii and Nyamira leaders in the coming months.
But despite having most elected leaders on his side, Senators Sam Ongeri (Kisii) and Okong'o Mogeni of Nyamira are yet to join his spirited camp. Ongeri recently slammed Ruto's chances.
"We must all fight corruption. If you're opposing what the president is doing, then we have no business with you. You cannot hide in the community all the time," said Ongeri.
Besides the two Senators, MPs Ben Momanyi (Borabu), Vincent Kemosi (West Mugirango) and Janet Ong'era (Kisii) have also drifted away from the DP Ruto's brigade, a blow blow if their influence is anything to go by.
For Ong'era, she insists that Ruto is not for for Presidency, adding that ODM party stands a good chance of forming the next government in 2022.
"You don't need miracles to see what's going on. ODM party will form government in 2022. We are confident about it. When that time comes, our people well vote for the party as usual," she says.
