If you are the kind that subscribes to the notion that the ability to love wears off as one advances in age, you might have to rethink that.
It was evident a few days ago that love knows no age limits as one Ayub Mugo who is 78 years old walked down the aisle with his new found love, Teresiah Njoki (60 years old), at St Marks ACK Church, Muranga.
Mugo who has been a widower for the last one decade exchanged marital vows with his sweetheart in the presence of joyous relatives and villagers highly hopeful that Njoki would help relight the dying embers of love in his heart.
"It was love at first sight. She appeared very special to me, a strong feeling of love hit me and I decided to follow her," Mugo is quoted by Thika Today as saying.
Mugo says he met Njoki while out to attend to personal business in Thika town last year.
"I stopped and asked her out for a cup of tea which she obliged. While at the restaurant, we exchanged contacts and an intimate conversation followed a few days later," Mugo adds.
Mugo notes that he kept pursuing Njoki who was hesitant at first till she yielded into his several advances.
And to affirm that the couple was meant to be a Shakespearean 'Romeo and Juliet', Mugo's children were happy about the idea of their father remarrying.
On her part, Njoki says she is very happy to be married to Mugo as she has been praying for a husband for many years and now that her prayers have been answered, she is going to love her husband to the end.
Mugo's advice to old widowers is to remarry before loneliness and stress send them to the grave.
