An ODM governor has urged people criticising President Uhuru Kenyatta and NASA leader Raila Odinga’s handshake to keep off.
Kisii County Governor James Ongwae said the historic handshake between Uhuru and Raila has been productive and therefore, there is no need for politicians with selfish interest to criticise the handshake.
“We have seen the good fruits of the historic handshake. The country is at peace and the economy is growing each day. Those criticising Raila for shaking hands with Uhuru should relocate from Kenya if they feel offended,” he said.
Ongwae said elected leaders should be at the forefront of preaching peace, unity, and harmony across the country. He said tribal politics will derail development in the country.
“Leaders should keep off tribal politics because tribalism is an enemy to development. The electorates deserve to get access to good roads, proper health care, good education among others,” he said.
The governor urged elected leaders in Kisii County to shun corruption and utilise public funds well and ensure projects initiated are complete before new projects starting new projects.
"Corruption will derail development and therefore, wish to urge elected leaders to stop engaging in corruption and use the funds allocated for development projects wisely," he added.
