Speaking on Monday, the former Nairobi Woman Representative said that she had been in constant talks with President regarding the March 9, 2018 truce and can authoritatively confirm that it is intact.

She added that one of the goals of the truce and the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) is a referendum which will be realised before the 2022 polls.

"The handshake is intact, I have been speaking to the President on the same and he has confirmed that and I can assure the nation that it will climax in a referendum to better our country," she said on Radio Nam Lolwe, Monday morning.

She lauded the two for burying the hatchet, saying that apart from Kenyans, Uhuru is also a beneficiary of the handshake, which has validated his rule and given his government a national outlook.

"The two are working towards realising a more united nation which we badly need. Initially, Jubilee appeared like a government of two tribes but now we are right on track after the two joined hands," she said.

Both leaders have maintained that no amount of questioning or criticism will draw them apart, though the handshake faces strong opposition from Deputy President William Ruto's side.

Further, the two leaders have stressed on the need for constitutional reforms, with Raila rooting for an expanded executive and a parliamentary governance system.

Shebesh was accompanied by Kisumu Woman Representative Rozah Buyu who was a fellow panellist.
