Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen has once again laughed off his Baringo counterpart Gideon Moi's presidential ambitions in the coming 2022 general polls.
Moi has repeatedly disclosed his ambition for the top seat and has declared his keenness to succeed the outgoing President Uhuru Kenyatta.
According to Murkomen, however, Gideon will not be anywhere near the race in the much-anticipated race, basing on his growing political romance with opposition leader Raila Odinga, terming him unfit for the top seat.
Speaking to the Daily Nation on Tuesday, Murkomen noted that Moi would end up throwing his weight behind opposition leader Raila Odinga or Deputy President William Ruto.
“We wish them the best. We always knew that Gideon Moi could only support William Ruto or Raila Odinga and it is his constitutional right to back Mr Odinga. He is certainly not a presidential candidate, nor a running mate,” he is quoted.
Moi who is not in good political terms with Ruto hinted at a possible union with Raila's Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) during his tour in Homa Bay County on Saturday.
"After the handshake, Raila and I are one thing. The friendship between my father and him will continue. We will work together to lay a roadmap to get to Canaan,” he is quoted.
Raila who has lost in his four previous presidential bids has remained mum on his 2022 plans.
