Outspoken Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu on Friday received ODM leader Raila Odinga at Tatu City where the latter is set to commission construction of 1,000 offices.
Earlier, Raila had held talks with Stephen Jennings, the Chief Executive Officer of Rendeavour, a consortium behind the development of Tatu City.
"Arrived at JKIA and held consultations with @skmusyoka and also met with Stephen Jennings the CEO of @rendeavour which is the group behind the development of Tatu City," Odinga tweeted.
Despite his persistent attacks on Raila, Waititu, who is being investigated for various economic crimes, led a delegation of local leaders in receiving him.
Tatu City occupies over 5,000 acres of land and in it, investors have built houses, schools, shopping malls and hospitals. Raila is the chief guest in the groundbreaking ceremony.
Early this year, Governor Waititu delayed approval of the construction of houses, demanding 10 per cent of land for the county government.
“We will not surrender 10 per cent of our land to the county government. There is no legal requirement that requires us to do that,” the company through Nick Longfield said when opposing the move.
Governor Waititu is a close ally of Dr William Ruto and has been leading an onslaught against the former Prime Minister.
Recently, he claimed that Raila boarded a jet from Kisumu to Dubai where he was given millions from the fake gold deal.
