Popular Kisumu HIV/AIDS activist Phenny Awiti has rebuked men hitting on her but are quick to shy away from what she has to say about the virus.
Through a post on her Facebook account, the mother of two revealed that there are men hitting on her but do not want to hear what she has to say about HIV, saying that that was not cool at all.
“Y'all men hitting on me but don't want to hear what I have to say about the virus. Not cool! #StrongestAfricanQueen #StigmaFreeSociety,” posted Phenny.
Many know Ms Awiti as a bold figure who has been advocating for an HIV/AIDS stigma-free society through her social media #StigmaFreeSociety.
Her social media pages are always littered with messages geared towards encouraging HIV positive members of the society, besides championing for a stigma-free society.
“I take one pill at 9 am and 9 pm; I just spread them for you guys to have a closer look, because it is a day to ZERO DISCRIMINATION DAY,” reads one of her posts.
Ms Awiti who is the Brand Ambassador at Lake Basin Orthodontic Centre and a Weekly Columnist at Standard Group’s The Nairobian has shared on several occasions how she discovered her HIV positive status while in Secondary School and how she had to live through the stigma associated with it.
However, she came out bold and strong and has been encouraging those living with the virus not to shy away so that the society appreciates the status and not sideline and stigmatise those with the virus.
