It now emerges that a man who recently stabbed and killed his ex-wife's lover in Kirinyaga county actually killed his own cousin.
Simon Gitari allegedly killed his cousin Simon Muriithi for having an affair with his former wife Josephine Wawira with whom they separated seven years ago.
The incident happened in Kamucege Village in Mwea East Sub County after the suspect stormed the house where the two were together, demanding to know why Muriithi had been visiting Wawira.
Wawira said that her former husband confronted the deceased and stabbed him with a kitchen knife in the Wednesday incident.
The incident was confirmed by Mwea East Officer in Charge of Police Division (OCPD) Dorothy Gaitenga.
Meanwhile, the suspect, 40, on Thursday presented himself to the police at the Wang'uru Police Station.
He had gone into hiding since committing the said offence after irate villagers threatened to lynch him.
The ex-wife was quoted by Citizen Daily saying that the suspect stormed her rented house and managed to escape after the murder.
