The government officially announced the end of phase one of Dusit Hotel Complex attack on Wednesday with President Uhuru Kenyatta issuing a tough statement on those who planned and executed the Tuesday afternoon invasion.

In his speech, the Head of State also asked Kenyans to 'go back to work', adding that nomalcy had been restored by security forces in a mission that lasted for over 15 hours.

"I wish to tell you that about one hour ago, security forces successfully ended the mission. I therefore request you to go back to work," he said in a televised address.

The president's speech was followed by another media address by Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i who said the second phase would be undertaken by CID boss George Kinoti.

And later on, Inspector General Joseph Boinet gave a breakdown of the events, which included basic government records with regard to the attack.

"Those who died include 16 Kenyans, one Briton, one American and three un-identified people of African descent and one policeman. Number of those dead is likely to rise,” Boinnet told the Standard, adding that 700 people were evacuated.

From the IG Boinet's statement, the following six facts can be established from the government records.

1. The terror attack took lives of 21 innocent people including one police officer.

2. Of those who died, 16 are Kenyan, one American, one Briton and three others from other parts of Africa.

3. So far, two people have been arrested in connection to the attack

4. Over 700 people were evacuated from the building at the time of the attack.

5. 28 people are still admitted in various city hospitals.

6. During the attack, five terrorists were killed by security officers.
