The government on Tuesday ordered for the closure of St. Stevens Girls School after the students attacked journalists and torched a car they were travelling in.
The students were directed to leave the school after the attack on journalists from Standard Media Group.

Confirming the closure of the school, the Assistant Director Quality Assurance and Standards at the Ministry of Education, Alice Gichana said that the move to close the school was arrived at to pave way for the probe into the incident.
The journalists had visited the school to investigate an incident where a girl allegedly went missing from the school. Police officers arrested the principal of the school, Joseph Musyoki Kyalo after the girls attacked the journalists.
He was charged at the Machakos Law Courts for allegedly inciting the students but he was later released on Sh1 million bond.
The incident has continued to elicit mixed reactions from different quarters.
"The girls started beating the journalists and they have even torched the car we were using. They have also destroyed a camera worth Sh2.5 million. Bonny was trying to safeguard it but the girls overwhelmed us," the driver told Hivisasa writer on phone.
