This comes at a time when the party seems divided into two, one in support of President Uhuru Kenyatta's ideologies and his calls for political calm, under the nickname 'Kitaeleweka'.

The other one nicknamed 'Tangatanga' is drumming up support for Deputy President William Ruto who is warming up for the 2022 presidential race, in defiance to Uhuru's calls for political calm.

Speaking on Saturday morning, Mwaura said that the party will sooner or later be divided down the middle, leading to a loss in the polls.

"Tukiendelea hivi wote wataanguka (the ongoing wrangles is a recipe for failure for both teams)," he said during an interview on Radio Jambo's Mazungumzo Waziwazi.

He cautioned that there are other strong politicians also seeking votes for both the presidency and other seats in the poll and will have it easier sailing through the falling side.

"Tukumbuke vipo vyama vingine ambavyo pia vinasaka viti na wagomebeaji pia ni wengi (we are not alone, there are others who are also keen on achieving in the elections)," said the leader.

Mwaura is in office on the party's nomination.

This comes at a time when a row seems to be brewing between the two sides following suspicion between the two camps.

Uhuru has remained silent as a number of his allies bash Ruto and his bid, with some also questioning his growing closeness with opposition boss Raila Odinga.
