Vocal Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa on Tuesday met President Uhuru Kenyatta at Deputy President William Ruto's Harambee House Annex offices, it has now emerged.
Jumwa has been battling to overturn the decision by Raila Odinga's ODM party to expel her over links to DP Ruto, a move which she has termed 'draconian' in responses filed at Registrar of Political Parties offices.
Photos of a cheerful Jumwa with President Uhuru Kenyatta were first released by State House Director of Digital Communication and Diaspora Dennis Itumbi, who works closely with Dr Ruto these days.
"The President and Hon. Aisha at Harambee Annex," he tweeted, noting that the vocal MP is an iron lady perhaps in reference with expulsion from ODM.
She is facing a possible by-election at her constituency but she has often insisted that her decision to work with Ruto was informed by the handshake between Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga.
It could not be established whether or not her meeting with the President was pre-arranged but the Uhuru had visited Ruto amid the ongoing storm in the fight against corruption which the latter insists that he's being targeted.
"President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy, Dr. @WilliamsRuto today shared a working lunch at the DP's Harambee House Annex office during which the two leaders discussed matters related to the Government‘s development agenda," Uhuru's communication team said.
In his trips to the coast, Ruto has often accused ODM of mistreating Jumwa.
Odinga recently asked her to apologise to the party, a move she dismissed.
