The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission has now come out to respond to media allegations that its officials were involved in robbing a man in Nandi County.

The commission has now come out to refute those claims stating that the man was a fraud who was captured in a planned operation. 

The man, Dominic Borchigei was among various people who collected money from IDPs after receiving payments from the government. 

According to the commissions CEO Twalib Mbarak, information reached them on Wednesday that these people had been allocated a desk in the bank and were receiving payments from IDPs. 

”The EACC sleuths conducted a sting operation at about 3pm and arrested Borchigei inside the banking hall and escorted him to the bank manager's office, where a search was conducted in the presence of the Bank manager and a sum of Ksh 99,050 was recovered and recorded in the inventory which was signed by the EACC officer, the Bank Manager, and the suspect," the statement read in part.

The suspect was taken to Kapsabet Police Station as he awaits to be charged.
