DPP Noordin Haji has ordered the arrest of former Nyandarua governor Daniel Waithaka over a Sh50 million scandal.
Haji ordered the arrest of several other Nyandarua county officials over a fraudulent Sh50 million water and sewerage tender.
According to the DPP, the officials allegedly flouted procurement laws and regulations in awarding the tender in 2014.
Officials who are set to be arrested include Water executive Grace Wanjiru, Kihiu Gichinga, John Ngigi and Jesse Wachira.
Firms to be probed in the matter include Tashal Consulting Engineers Limited, Chen Yochanan and Albert Attias.
Through the DPP's twitter account, Haji stated that EACC established that the county unlawfully engaged M/S Tahal Consulting Engineers Limited in the development of a county water master plan.
"At the time of the signing of the contract, Tahal was not a legal entity. Nyandarua did not have a procurement plan or funds for the project for financial year 2013/14," said Haji.
The company was paid in two installments - one of Sh23,895,513 on July 2, 2014, and another of Sh26,575,000 on September 4, 2015.
