Irene Jepchumba Boitt, who was a lecturer at Rift Valley Institute of Science and Technology in Nakuru, might have been killed by her lover, fresh details show.
A post-mortem report showed that Boitt was strangled contrary to reports from her boyfriend that she had fallen into Molo falls as she took a selfie during a picnic.
Boitt’s lover, Godfrey Kipkemoi, was with the deceased at Choka Falls at River Molo on July 6 when the incident occurred.
Kipkemoi said she had fallen into the waters as she took a selfie. Her body was later retrieved.
Investigators handling the case said the new evidence has changed the course of investigations and points to a possible murder.
The suspect was arrested on July 12 and police now want the court to allow get DNA specimens from him to match those taken from the deceased during the post-mortem.
