The governor has since declared his interest in the top seat in the approaching 2022 general elections.

Speaking on Citizen TV's 7 pm bulletin on Thursday, the county chief noted that he has his eyes on the national arena and has since identified some of the leaders whose endorsements he is seeking.

He named Baringo Senator Gideon Moi, Central Organization of Trade Unions (COTU) Secretary General Francis Atwoli and Amani National Congress (ANC) leader Musalia Mudavadi, as some of his target allies.

"Pwani hatuna shida na hata wananchi wetu wamekubali. Wapwani wameamua (the Coast is fully behind me, the people are in full agreement)," he said.

"Sasa ninaongea na viongozi wenye ufuasi wa kitaifa. Tayari tumemfikia Moi na pia nitazungumza na wengine kama Atwoli na Mudavadi (I am already in talks with Senator Moi and will also seek the endorsement of Atwoli and Mudavadi)," he added.

Joho and Moi have been seen together on several occasions in the recent past, pointing at a possible alliance ahead of the much anticipated contest.

The opposition's Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Deputy Party Leader is set to face among others Deputy President William Ruto in the race.

He is however, yet to disclose his party of choice and possible running mate.
