Bahati MP Kimani Ngujiri has hit out at Cotu Secretary General Francis Atwoli over his remarks that Deputy President Dr William Ruto will not be on the ballot in the 2022 presidential race.
Ngujiri now wants the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and other security organs to summon the vocal Cotu boss and ask him to reveal what he knows about the upcoming polls.
The Jubilee legislator argued that Atwoli's sentiments should not be ignored since anything might happen to the DP.
The vocal MP termed Atwoli's remarks as a threat to the DP, adding that the trade unions boss should be held liable if anything happens to DP Ruto before the 2022 polls.
“We want the DCI to investigate Atwoli over the sentiments. Let him tell us what he knows about 2022 because as it stands now if anything happens to the DP then Atwoli will answer,” said Ngunjiri.
This comes after Atwoli on Saturday said that Ruto will not be on the ballot, adding that Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho will be part of the next government.
"I assure you that after the next elections, Governor Hassan Joho will be part of the next government. In 2022 we shall elect the president in an election that will be very peaceful since we shall have amended the Constitution. The name of William Ruto will not be there (on the ballot)...You can take it to the bank," said Atwoli.
