A high school principal was on Monday arraigned before a Wajir Court to answer to charges of raping a Form Four student.

Mr Idle Abdi, the principal of Habaswein Mixed Secondary School was being accused of allegedly raping the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) student in Wajir County.

The court heard that the accused person committed the offence on November 3, this year and was arrested by the police on Sunday after the matter was reported at the police station.

The accused person, however, denied the charge before Senior Resident Magistrate Amos Makoros and filed an application to be released on bail pending the next case hearing.

Magistrate Makoros granted the bail and ordered for the accused to be released on a Sh300,000 bond.

The case will be heard on November 27 this year.

Wajir County Police Commander Stephen Ng’etich who confirmed the incident said the principal had allegedly offered the student who was going to visit her mother a lift at around 3:30 pm in Habaswein town.

The 18-year-old student told the police that she accepted the lift but lost consciousness and two hours later, she was dumped near a borehole within the township.

The girl was later taken to the hospital and according to a medical report, there was penetration.
