In a conversation, Nyaribo hinted on Tuesday that NHIF booked flight had delayed and that he was likely to restart the process.

"The flight was fully paid by NHIF but there is a delay. If it persists, I am likely to rebook on my own but I'll be home in few days," he said.

Mr Nyaribo has been away from the country for three months after undergoing kidney operation in India, a situation that even kept him off his brother Robert Nyaribo's burial.

A statement from his communication team revealed about Nyaribo's return but did not specify the day.

"Nyamira County Deputy Governor Amos Nyaribo is expected in the country towards the end of this week. Once he is in the country, he will stay in Nairobi for sometime before proceeding to Nyamira County. Hon Nyaribo might resume duties towards mid December or in new year," read the statement.

From May to July this year, Nyaribo temporarily served as governor after indisposition of Governor John Nyagarama in the US.

Once he resumes duties, Nyaribo will be likely to be engaged in a tough tussle with Governor John Nyagarama over pre-election pact which he insists was not honoured by the governor.
