Moiben Member of Parliament Silas Tiren has called on President Uhuru Kenyatta to crack the whip on government officials engaging in corruption scandals.
In a Facebook post on Monday, Tiren argued that the offices of the Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) are carrying out their mandate effectively and should not be blamed over failure to tame the vice.
“The offices of the DPP and DCI have been under attacks for not delivering on their mandate in the past. Now that the two current office bearers are performing their duties well, a section of leaders has made derogatory statements against these offices which is totally uncalled for,” read his post in part.
The MP said anyone found guilty of corruption should not be spared and should face the full force of the law.
“If anyone is found culpable of corruption, then the full force of the law should take its course and the President should crack the whip on such officers,” he added.
This comes against the backdrop of the alleged Sh21 billion scandal linked to the Arror and Kimwarer dams in Elgeyo Marakwet County.
The DP had last week denied claims that Sh21 billion had been misappropriated, arguing that the amount in contention was Sh7 billion.
However, Treasury Cabinet Secretary Henry Rotich on Sunday contradicted Ruto, noting that Sh20 billion had been spent on advance payments.
