Political analyst Herman Manyora now says that the cancellation of Deputy President William Ruto's prayer rally that was set to be held in Muranga today (Saturday) was expected.
Speaking on Saturday, the commentator said there is no way President Uhuru Kenyatta and his handlers were going to allow the function that was to be held in Kenol to take place.
The DP was set to preside over a mega interdenominational prayer rally, a function that was set to be attended by over 150 lawmakers before it was called off on Friday.
He noted that the fact that the rally was to be attended by such a big delegation was a threat to Uhuru, considering that some of the leaders from his Mt Kenya bedrock were set to attend the rally.
Manyora said that the cancellation of the function was a natural move aimed at saving the President from the humility he was going to be subjected to if it were to materialise.
"The cancellation of Ruto's rally is not an innocent move. Tanga Tanga wanted to assemble over 150 MPs in a show of defiance and might which was not going to be allowed to happen," said Manyora on his YouTube channel Take It or Leave It.
He observed that in the instance that the DP and his allies under the Tanga Tanga tag insisted on holding the function, then underhand methods would have been used to reduce its intensity.
"If it was to happen, then only 50 or 60 MPs would attend, after the others would have been knocked off through phone calls," he added.
This is the second time Ruto is cancelling the function which was to be hosted by Kiharu MP and a key Tanga Tanga member Ndindi Nyoro.
