A Jubilee Senator now wants Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko to be investigated over his habit of putting private phone conversations in public.
Murang'a lawmaker Irungu Kang'ata said Sonko could be in possession of sensitive information that he may leak to the public and jeopardise national security.
Speaking to Inooro FM on Saturday, the Senator warned that the city boss could be a threat to the country if he has recorded phone conversations between himself and President Uhuru Kenyatta or Deputy President William Ruto.
"As a governor, he is always communicating with the President and his deputy and we have seen he has zero phone etiquette and that is why he must be probed," Kang'ata said.
"We don't know when he may leak confidential information and make Kenya go up in flames," he added.
Kang'ata said it was unlawful to record a conversation without the consent of the other party and asked the Senate to summon the governor who he said his behaviour was quite unbecoming.
When he was Nairobi Senator, Sonko once put President Uhuru in an awkward moment after he put his call on a loudspeaker in full glare of the public.
When he was pressed to explain why did that to the Head of State, he replied:
"The president is my friend…I put him on speaker call because I have confidence on him…We talk every two days…He is the most accessible president in the world."
The flamboyant county boss raised eyebrows in different quarters two days ago after he leaked an audio recording of a conversation between him and his Kiambu counterpart Ferdinand Waititu.
