Deputy President William Ruto is the father of ethnicity and tribal politics, a Kisii-based ODM politician has claimed.
Samuel Omwando who unsuccessfully vied for the Kitutu Chache South MP seat during last year's polls hit out at Ruto saying his style of politics is "tribal".
Omwando who spoke in Kisii Town on Sunday called on the DP to stop calling on other leaders to shun ethnicity and tribal politics noting that is practicing what he preaching against.
"Ruto should be ashamed of loitering across the country calling on politicians to shun ethnicity and tribal politics yet he is the one engaging in tribal politics. Let him first change before urging others to change," he said.
Omwando said tribal politics will only come to an end once high profile politicians shun tribal politics.
He said leaders have divided their communities along tribal lines and therefore, ethnicity and tribal politics will never end.
"Leaders must accept to come together and live together as brothers and sisters for the sake of ending tribal and ethnic politics. High profile leaders should stop dividing their communities but, instead focus on uniting the country so that Kenyans can live in peace, unity, and harmony," he noted.
