Today being the second day of the president’s tour to Nyanza, some residents are still not satisfied with his agenda and feel that the head of state should consider some of the issues that have troubled the county for quite long.
Kowa Fredrick, a resident from the region twitted that the main issues that were affecting the region were water hyacinth and the struggles of the fishing industry.
Kowa felt that the president ought to have addressed the issues in his tour to the region.
Another Kenyan on Twitter, Bromoh , raised a concern that none of the leaders who addressed the people of Kisumu remembered the plight of the baby Samantha Pendo. Pendo was killed in the 2017 post election skirmishes.
Several innocent citizens were reportedly shot dead for the course they were fighting for.
Tywin Lanniste told lawmaker and lawyer Otiende Amollo’s that in the spirit of the handshake, the president and the opposition leader needed to have been concerned about the victims of last year’s elections like baby Pendo. He held that Miguna Miguna, the late Msando were just but a few who suffered during the elections skirmishes.
Nyandiga on the other hand questioned the possibility of the head of state addressing the water hyacinth problem in Lake Victoria.
@Habibomar20 made a concern known to the President and former prime minister, through their twitter handle that justice and compensation had to be served to the families of the post-election violence.
Kerr Owino, expressed his surprise in the fact that there was no single mention of baby Pendo who was murdered during the last year’s post august 8th elections violence.
Phoebe Obanda, a business woman at Kondele through an interview on phone said that the president and his team would have considered to compensate the families affected by 2017 general elections.
“People lost lives, our businesses were destroyed and women and children injured by police. These people deserve justice.” appealed Phoebe.
As opposed to most of these concerned residents’ thoughts, president Kenyatta’s tour was focused on launching the Universal Health Care programme. Among other things, he commissioned construction of the Ahero Interchange.
