Jambojet airline has rescheduled and canceled some flights due to the ongoing runway repairs at the Kisumu International Airport (KIA), being carried out by the Kenya Airports Authority (KAA).

The maintenance exercise scheduled to run for eleven days started today and will run until March 28, 2019.

According to a message send out by Jambojet airline through its social media pages, during the maintenance period KIA will be open from 6.45am to 7.00pm every day.

“The following flights are rescheduled to depart as follows: 18th – 28th March, 2019 Nairobi – Kisumu- Nairobi. Nairobi (NBO) to Kisumu (KIS) JM8656 departs 1740 arrives 1830. Kisumu (KIS) to Nairobi (NBO) JM89641departs 1850 arrives at 1940,” the airline said in a statement.

However, the Company has canceled all flights from Nairobi-Kisumu- Nairobi on Tuesday, March 19, 2019 because the runway will be closed for the entire day.

“However, the runway will remain closed all day on 19th March 2019, affecting all flights to/from Kisumu. Jambojet guests booked to travel on this day have been rebooked on other flight within 48 hours or received a refund,” adds the Statement.

The flight reschedules and cancellations is expected to have a negative financial effect on most people, especially the taxi drivers who operate at the airport.
